Using Presets in Lightroom Mobile Apps

Mobile photography has come a long way; with small parts being played by the most powerful editing applications like Lightroom and Snapseed mobile. These software tools tap into the core power of the phone in order to create images to one’s taste.

Lightroom, in particular, has come a long way since its inception, with Adobe concentrating much on desktop counterpart instead.

The extensive features you expect to find at the palm of your hands including exposure control, dodging and develop mode are just a swipe away in the mobile version. One of the frequently requested features is the ability to use both pre-made and custom presets in the mobile version.

Discussed below are some of the steps you need to follow in order to setup lightroom presets on your mobile phone.

Step 1. Open the Lightroom catalog on your Desktop. Next, in the Library module, navigate to the collections section on the left panel and select the + sign to create a new collection.


Step 2. Click on any unprocessed image in the catalog. Note, you should always select an image that you can apply the presets to easily.

Step 3. Simply highlight the photo and drag it into the collection.

Step 4. Create as many virtual copies of the presets as you can.

Step 5. Apply the presets create to the virtual copies/

Step 6. Synchronize the collection with Lightroom Mobile.

This is the beauty of creating a text file as virtual copies since they are saved as a set of instructions. The use of virtual copies is very key as they take less space. After the files ate fully synchronized your mobile device, creating the presets is very easy, you only need to copy and paste them.

In addition, in order to sync your photos to the mobile, you will have to use the Lightroom Desktop App as a middle man to help you connect with your mobile device.

How to use Presets in Lightroom Mobile App

Now that your applications are sync, follow the below steps on how to use the mobile version of Lightroom.

-Open the mobile application and select a photo you would want to edit.

-Navigate to the presets section. The section is at the bottom of the screen, so you will have to scroll down to find the right option.

-Once you click on the Preset section, the app will open up a random preset collection. The images might not appear in the same order as they do on the PC version of Lightroom. But, it will still contain the same file names, so there is no need to worry.

-To change on the collection preset, simply tap on the collection name. Doing so will bring up a list of preset collections. Choose the one you want to apply to image and click ok.

-If you do not like the affects you have create to the image using the presets, you can click on the undo arrow at the top of the screen or select a new preset and apply it to the image instead.

-Close the current menu by clicking on X.

-Even after making changes to your image using the presets, you can still make additional adjustments like color and exposure using the other options at the bottom of the screen.
